Reschedule if your appointment falls on day 1 or 2 of your cycle. Estrogen and progesterone drops make skin more sensitive — pain feels sharper, you bleed more during the procedure, and pigment retention drops by roughly 20–30%. The sweet spot is days 5–14. Ovulation days (12–14) show the best pigment healing. Applies to microblading, nano brows, lip blush, and permanent eyeliner.

ACOG (American College of OB-GYN) considers hair color safe during pregnancy, but the safest window is the second trimester (weeks 13–27) — organogenesis is complete and morning sickness has usually eased. Foil highlights and balayage are safer than single-process root color because chemicals don't touch the scalp. We use ammonia-free formulas on request. Skip the first trimester when possible; a scalp-friendly gloss or toner is a great alternative until then.

Avoid these for 48–72 hours before your PMU appointment: aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo, ginseng, and alcohol. They thin the blood, cause bleeding during application, dilute pigment, and produce patchy healing. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is fine. Never stop a prescribed blood thinner (warfarin, Eliquis, Plavix) without your doctor — book a free consultation and we'll work around it.

Accutane (isotretinoin): off it for at least 12 months before any PMU — Accutane makes skin fragile and risks scarring. Oily skin: microblading fades faster because sebum breaks pigment down. We usually recommend nano brows over microblading for oily or combination skin — the machine deposits pigment more evenly and heals sharper. Botox in forehead / glabella + microblading: either 2 weeks before microblading (so the brow settles into its post-Botox position) or 4 weeks after. Mapping brows on unsettled muscle means the shape drifts as the muscle relaxes. Lip filler + lip blush: filler 4 weeks before or 6 weeks after. Never combine on the same day. Cheek and jawline filler does not conflict with brow PMU.

Full balayage starts at $300 for shoulder-length hair; longer or denser hair scales up. Partial balayage or face-frame highlights start at $180. Olaplex or K18 bond builders add $30–50. Toner is usually included in the base price. Corrective work or lifting from box-dye is quoted separately after consultation. Brazilian Blowout smooths frizz and cuts blow-dry time in half for 10–12 weeks. It does not chemically straighten — your natural wave or curl still returns; only the frizz layer is sealed. Yes if any of these apply: first-time professional hair color, 12+ months since your last color service, previous reaction to hair dye, or known PPD (paraphenylenediamine) allergy. A patch test is a small dab of dye behind the ear or inner arm, checked 48 hours later. Book the patch test 2–3 days before your color appointment so we have time to reschedule if there's a reaction.

Peak LA wedding months (May–October): book 6–9 months ahead. Off-peak: 3–4 months. Your bridal package includes a paid trial 4–8 weeks before, day-of hair and makeup, and optional bridal-party styling. On-location work in Greater LA is $150 travel plus per-artist time. The trial fee is credited toward the package total when you book the full day.

24 hours' notice for any cancellation or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are billed at 50% of the booked service. Permanent makeup, bridal packages, and color correction require a non-refundable deposit of 20–30% to hold the chair; it's applied to your final invoice.
