Hair & color

Cuts, color, and prep

Should I wash my hair before a haircut?

Most haircuts at MUA Salon include a wash. Come with clean or day-old hair if you can; freshly washed isn't required. For color services we prefer day-old hair so the scalp's natural oils protect against irritation.

How is hair pricing structured by length?

All services are priced from a base — final cost reflects hair length, density, and complexity. Long, thick, or previously color-treated hair often costs more because it takes more product and more time. We always confirm the quote before we begin. See full pricing on the service menu.

Do you offer free color consultations?

Yes. Color consultations are 15 minutes, free of charge, and can be done in person at the studio or by phone. We recommend booking one before any major color change.

Do you cut kids' hair?

Yes. Kids' haircuts are $50 for ages 12 and under and take about 30 minutes.

Do you cut men's hair?

Yes. Our barber cut for men is from $60, takes 45 minutes, and includes a hot-towel finish. Color, treatments, and styling for men priced the same as for everyone else.

Permanent makeup

Microblading, nano brows, and lip blush

What's the difference between microblading and nano brows?

Microblading is hand-tooled with a fine blade for hair-stroke patterns; nano brows use a single-needle digital machine for ultra-fine pigment dots. Nano brows last longer (18–36 months vs 12–18) and work on a wider range of skin types, especially oily and mature skin. Full breakdown on the PMU comparison table.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading at MUA Salon lasts 12 to 18 months before a color refresh. Skin type, sun exposure, and aftercare adherence affect longevity.

How long does the PMU healing process take?

Surface healing is 7–14 days. Full pigment settles by week 6, when we book your perfecting touch-up. Avoid sweat, sun, makeup, and water on the area for the first 10 days. See the full aftercare guide.

Who isn't a good candidate for permanent makeup?

We do not perform permanent makeup on clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, on blood thinners, recovering from chemotherapy, with active skin conditions in the treatment area, with diabetes that's not well controlled, or with keloid scarring tendencies. A health screening is part of every consultation.

Is a touch-up included with permanent makeup?

Yes. The 6–8 week perfecting touch-up is included in your initial price. Color-boost touch-ups beyond that point are billed separately at a reduced rate.

Bridal

Wedding hair and makeup

How far in advance should I book bridal hair?

Lock your wedding date 6–9 months out for peak season (April through October). Off-peak dates can sometimes confirm inside 8 weeks. A 50% non-refundable deposit secures the date.

Do you do bridal trial sessions?

Yes — we recommend a trial 4–6 weeks before the wedding. Trials are billed separately at standard styling and makeup rates. Bring your veil, headpiece, and a photo of the dress neckline. Read the full bridal trial guide.

Do you travel for on-location bridal services?

Yes. On-location bridal hair starts at $1,000 and we travel anywhere in greater Los Angeles, including Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, Malibu, Pasadena, the Hollywood Hills, and DTLA. Travel beyond 25 miles is custom quoted.

Lashes

Fills, removal, and adhesive

How often should I refill lash extensions?

Most clients refill every 2–3 weeks to maintain fullness. Fills are priced separately from new sets. We can also remove a set entirely with a gentle gel-based dissolver.

What if I'm allergic to lash adhesive?

We use a medical-grade adhesive and offer a low-irritation option for sensitive eyes. If you've had a reaction before, tell us in advance — we'll pre-test on a single lash and let it sit 24 hours before doing the full set.

Cancellation & deposits

Policies, in plain English

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellation or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are billed at 50% of the booked service. PMU and bridal deposits are non-refundable. Full details on the policies page.

Are deposits required and non-refundable?

Yes — permanent makeup, bridal, and longer color services require a non-refundable deposit at booking. The deposit is applied to your final bill on the day of service.

Do you offer refunds?

Service fees are non-refundable. If you're unhappy with a result, contact us within 7 days and we'll bring you back for a complimentary correction. Retail products may be returned, unopened, within 14 days for store credit.

Studio

Health, safety, gift cards, parking, accessibility

What health and safety standards do you follow?

Can I redeem my gift card for cash?

No. MUA Salon gift cards are redeemable for any service or product but cannot be exchanged for cash. They have no expiration date. Order on the gift cards page.

Where can I park?

Metered street parking on West 3rd Street and the surrounding side streets, plus several paid lots within a 2-block walk. There is no on-site lot. Allow 5–10 minutes to find a spot on busy Saturday mornings.

Is the salon wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The entrance to MUA Salon is street-level and wheelchair accessible. Let us know in advance if you'll need any other accommodations and we'll have everything ready.
